OK, i would suggest fully servicing the current carby, as long as its not cracked or broken, there's no need to replace a good carburetor, especially as it may be you original. (while they are all the same, i like keeping things together if they were made together)

Then get in there and give Goliath a good ignition service, making sure to get the timing right, and when you can, re-check the spark.
