Gday

I have a Victa Commando. Over the last few weeks the pull chord would need several pulls before it would "catch" and cause the engine to fire. At other times it just would pull without resistance.

Today it has no resistance at all and just pulls out and retracts and doesn't catch to crank the engine. I pulled off the cowling but cannot seems to get the pull start off to see what is going on underneath.

Is this fatal? Any suggestions?

thanks

debtdogg,

You have three bolts 12mm holding on the starter. If you unscrew them then the starter housing will come off.

Once you have it off you will see the two pawls and underneath them is a wire which activates them which I think could be your problem. You most probably need to replace that wire in order for it to work.

Also when putting back the starter to the crankcase I would suggest replacing the 'O' ring as they usually streach.

You can find more detailed information in the parts list and manuals area.

Hope that this is of some help. cheers2
