Hi Jeffrey, I agree mate, she's too good to reduce for parts....just imagine how great she will look when given the blumbly treatment! Looking forward to seeing the pics as you go along.

Yes that's what I thought and compression oh my lord it's got heaps. It even gets hard to turn by hand when it's on it compression stroke.I don't think it's had a lot of use, there's not many use marks except for the front. There no real scratches down the sides. The hub caps except one are fairly good.I think it just spent a lot of time sitting in the Brisbane weather.

What's the serial?
that looks like a 63-64 to me, I think I have the original sales brochure and manual here for that, as well as the workshop books, and perhaps a catcher!
Cheers Ty

They are indeed!
The 160cc engine was not introduced till 1967 on the 160cc Corvette, and the 160cc Self Propelled, at that point the corvette was available in either engine size!
Cheers Ty

Is that the type catcher with the metal bracket on top with the two pins that go into slots on the underside of the handles??? I do have a couple of those catchers here. I got this one the other day ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-4181-7951-kgrhqrhjdieghqtbdlbqj0iwly5q60_12.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-4181-7952-t2ec16rhjgqe9nomclebqj0i9zsyg60_12.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-4181-7953-kgrhqvhefjspqrmibqj0jgpnj60_12.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-4181-7954-kgrhqvp8fwgryoubqj0jvknzw60_12.jpg) Also have another, someone hacked a hole in the base for a later motors muffler outled, annoyed about that, its a mint base. Not sure if i have a spare catcher now.

No those ones you have are more like the Corvette base. The one I need looks more like this. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7955-100_0667.jpg) Have been having some fun getting this old girl ready to run.It had no spark so that was the first thing on the list to fix. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7956-102_0149.jpg) This is tank before clean.Good on the outside, bad on the inside has like a crusty carbon like sustains on the inside.Soaking in thinner overnight hopefully should break it down. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7957-102_0151.jpg) Happy to see air filter element inside air box.It is also in great condition, should clean up very well. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7958-102_0153.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7959-102_0154.jpg) Ignition before cleaning. Not really working at this point. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7961-102_0157.jpg) Engine number 66410356 ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7962-102_0158.jpg) After cleaning and now has a good spark.Carby was also given a good clean.Had yucky crusty stuff in bottom. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7963-102_0160.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7964-102_0164.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/09/full-5048-7965-102_0165.jpg)

I believe that they did take the same catcher, however I one that I'm chasing is the metal catcher not the plastic one.

I have one metal one here, I'll have to see if it's a match for the cortina, I beleive by 67 they were onto the plastics, which I have one of too.
That is a 64, so I have manuals etc. for you!
Cheers Ty

Well I knew that, but I think the plastic one will still fit the Cortina as well as the Corvette.

Yes they were plastic by 67,that's why I need a metal one,but you would find that I could put the plastic one on my Cortina as it would fit.I want the metal one as it is a 1964 model so it would be the steel catcher.

20 that I know of there could have been even more.I don't have any of my books here, but the one I do have here I can see 20 different models that were available in 1967.

OK the work is all but done now.All I have to do is get some fuel line and some fuel and then it's start up time.Just won't get to do that until next week. Here's how she looks now. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8072-102_0168.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8073-102_0169.jpg) It has had the fuel system cleaned out.Tap was blocked junk in the carby and fuel line trashed. The tank was full of junk. What appeared to be old dead and dried up 2 stroke mix.Got it as clean as I could, just wished I could have pulled tank apart, but then I would need to tools to seal it back up which I don't.It is fairly clean though so it should hopefully be right. There is a good filter on the tap to stop the horrible things if there is still is any. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8074-102_0170.jpg) Pulled flywheel off and gave everything a big clean and recapped the points as she didn't have any spark. It could benefit from a new set of points. I will change at some point, but for now she has good spark. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8075-102_0171.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8076-102_0172.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8077-102_0173.jpg) Still looks rough I know, but she is better than it was when I got her.So will keep you posted when I start it up.Hopefully in a week or so,I have a bit on at the moment. After we get settled into a new house this old girl will see the restoring tool box come her way.Won't that be exciting for her, considering when I purchased it I was only going to wreck it.Not now.

HELP!!!!! I need some help. While I was playing around with my VC-160 Auto Drive Mark I today I decided that I would put some fuel in this Cortina 2 and fire it up.Poured the fuel in and as quick as I poured it in it leaked out.So I thought OK the tap is leaking.Fine so I'll change taps.Well so I thought. This is what happened. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8454-102_0221.jpg) [Censored] bugger boo.It snapped the tap plate off.Not happy, not happy at all.So I'm going to put in the wanted section as well as here.So if anybody has a tank for one of these guys and don't want it.Please please please I need. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8455-102_0222.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8456-102_0223.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2012/10/full-5048-8457-102_0225.jpg) I know it is proberly fixable but I'm not real happy with the tank it still has junk inside and I can see that there is a little rust in the tank.So another tank I reckon would be a better idea.

No I couldn't get any fuel to the carby it was like a water fall,or in this case a petrol fall. The problem with the tank is I really think it needs the 2 half's apart to get rid of the rest of the crud and whatever rust is in it.
