Hi my father has a old chainsaw (a Canadian 270) that was running well but had problems with the oil feed to the bar. Im looking for a maintenance manual or information about the oil feed or possibly buying another saw as parts. Any information about this saw or where to find information would be much appreciated.

I have a PM Canadien 270 which was given to me. It is missing the top cover but you are welcome to it for parts.

Thanks Deejay,
Just happened to do a search to see if anyone needed the saw.
Not really into the restoration bit myself.

No probs Suts, if you wish, you could post details of the saw in one of the "items to sell/swap or give away" topics on the main forum, maybe one of our members may be looking for parts and would really appreciate the post. wink

Hi From Australia. I have my fathers Canadien 270 which is in very good condition, he bought it new in the late 60's. I have the saw running, its blowing alot of blue smoke, no doubt the current fuel mix if different from the original 16:1 ratio. Can anyone suggest what fuel mix I should use with modern oils (syntheic ??) and petrol. Also, any hint on correctly adjusting carby for a tune up would also be appreciated. I will post some picture when I have time. Cheers Left.

G'day I have a Canadien 270 also..I run mine on 25:1 and use mineral-based oil designed for air-cooled two stroke engines works fine for me ,just dont use fuel with ethanol in it...here is a pic for adjusting the carby yours should have the same sticker under the top cover...Cheers [Linked Image]

Hi Chris, Thanks for the feed back. Have re-mixed fuel ratio and saw is now running fine, small amount of blue smoke on full revs.

I need to buy a new air filter, tried a couple of large mower, machinery shops but no one can find one.

Is there another brand of filter to suit tillotson HL carby.

Geoff.

Hi Geoff,

Below is a parts list for your model chainsaw, so that at least you know what the air filter looks like.

Hi Geoff, I have done a bit of research for you....here is what I have found...Click HERE and scroll down to a post from timcut, post #14.

He mentions finding the air filter from a Detroit compressor will fit with little modification.
Also for some technical details on the 270...Click HERE wink

Hoping this may help,
cheers2
