Lucky in Australia, bar blades were unheard of when these classic lumps were around. I imagine it would be a gelded 3 horses with one of those and the survival rate of VP Briggs would have been far lower.

Probably a good thing I left an early VP Masport with dial control on the kerb a few years back.

I had the dreaded flywheel key issue with my father in laws combo 19 Masport with the bar blade. Its cut is much courser than the Victa Mustang GTS. I get the impression that Rover using a 4 blade cutting disc evened up any power disadvantage the 3/3.5hp B&S engines had against the Victa 2 strokes. 4 hp and above even money bet

Not when you have a Powertorque Mustang fitted with a four bladed disc!!
The 3hp SupaSwift snips the grass in a very satisfying manner.

I am surprised Supaswift didn't have a bigger share of the market if they are better than Masport. Their commercial range looks like the old Rover Pro Cut 50.

Retarding a camshaft was also used in controlling emissions back in the 70's with the first generation emission controls.

The blade disc takes either Victa or Rover swing back blades and the wheels are as easy to remove as a Victa's (but won't take Victa wheels).

One if the rear wheels had a worn out sleeve so I fitted it with a bearing from a Sanli wheel and it fixed the terrible wobble it had before.
