I put together a PT a year or so back, couldn't get it running so it went under cover. I dragged it out yesterday, blew it off,, had a good spark. I put a different cleaned up carb on, And bingo it started first pull, smooth running, sharpened blades . I didn't put it all together , just wanted to test engine, mowed the backyard....... So now I know motor is good, I'll cleanup a newer Statesman base and paint it, need better axles.... which I have.better wheels which I have.... I tried this sanding pad I found at building site, worked well, gentler than a disk. It will do the job.I had a good day. speedy

I had 2 starters both with problems, but made one good one. Lucky I took it apart as it was full of grass. The plastic stopper for the recoil spring had broken off. Anyway got it all together....... I broke a started cord when trying to start it................ "Life wasn't meant to be easy"........... Malcolm Fraser prime minister Australia. speedy

That looks sensational Speedy. Could you tell me what silver you used. I'm looking to repaint a Silver Streak base down the line. How did you paint the Victa logo? A piece of flat cardboard with paint on it?
Those lowballers are criminals NormK.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Norm, I won't be selling this for $50....... And MF, I used Boston Bright Zinc..... But this is a bad paint to use as it melts when petrol hits it. Use Rustolium silver or any other colour as petrol doesn't affect it when it dries properly. Just used a fine brush the do logo......

MF, often when I get somebody asking what is my best price I usually reply by putting the price up another $10. Another one is "should have gone to Specksavers then you might have been able to read the ad" Some of the others I probably shouldn't put on here
Fixed the starter today, you always learn something. Mowed the front lawn again after a few days, there was enough to cut. No catcher of course. MF, heres one I did with Rustolium...
