I decided I had to pull out a number of 2 stroke Victa mowers, some that had been sitting here for up to 2 years that I had collected and never looked at them or attempted to start them. Good result in the end, I think I tested 12 and got 11 running. Put the motors on the shelf and the 11 rusted bases are off to the scrap bin at the tip. Frees up a lot of space in the shed, won't know what to do in there now.

Get more mowers to fill the void in your shed Norm !
I live a 24 Hour lifestyle, but every now and again I seem to fall asleep, well at least that's what my wife tells me.

Hi BB, mowers seem to be a bit thin on the ground this year, haven;t found any hard rubbish ones and only pick the occasional one from G/tree and ebay. I have even emptied the garage under the house so I am now on the home straight on catching up on mowers that have been here for years, fix or dump Tested another 5 today and 5 good ones. I now have 30 good motors but the downside is that means I need 120 good Victa wheels and that isn't likely to happen

Sounds like an opportunity to clear out the junk to me. Never underestimate the value of space to swing a cat (don't put that to the test please!). You'll need to expand your area of operations it sounds like. Mowers ate the first item to grow legs upon dumping at the kerb. Something irresistible about a free internal combustion engine it seems.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

I'm not going back to repairing old motorcycles, got a few rideons that need finishing. Finishing off the existing 30 odd PT's here will still take me a long time seeing I probably have about 15 usable/repairable bases here at the moment

Well the drought is killing me. I have now got 21 lawnmowers here. I can usually sell them as I fix them but not now! There has been a slight uptick in the last fortnight. Need rain like everybody else.

I sold a powertorque made from bits and bobs from six different mowers the other day. Body was from the 2000s and the engine fun m from a similar era -Chinaman's PT. Started like a dream. Hope the new owners take care of it.

I have a couple of high arch full cranks that I have fitted Flymo catchers to, they are such a beautiful solid feeling mower, a thousand times better than what is on the market these days and I can't get anybody interested, best I get is will I take $50, problem is it takes me up to 3 days to repair/restore these so I can be sure they are trouble free. They feel so much better than any of the pressed metal PT's which feel limp in the handle department

The thumb latch aluminum decks cut and catch better than the aluminum version of the steel deck rear flap held catcher models. It must be the higher arch and better airflow characteristics. My 1980s Mustang I made up from two mowers -engine off a rotted steel deck and Mustang base came with dead Briggs -has been and continues to be a cut above the rest.

MF,
I'm not even talking about how the mower works cutting the grass, it is just the solid feel that it has, bit like sitting in a Cadilac compared to a basic 68 Kingswood. Both did the same job of getting you from A to B but one was a little more comfortable.

Definitely more pleasant to push.
