Sorry to report I have got no further since last post. I have taken motor out and can see that mounting a motor east west as is is the only option. This is because the whole drive assembly is offset to the left and that is where the pulley on the motor needs to be. Mounting north south in that instance wont work, and a secondary problem is that the cowling would not fit again.
If I mount a new motor east west problem is that the top of the motor ( spark plug end) would be wider than the current chasis - only an inch maybe but such that the motor would prevent the foot pedal from working. So I need to move the foot pdeal out further by that much. Nothing impossible but will take time which I dont have any of at the moment.
Wil post again but wont be a few weeks at least.
