John, I think it would require a reasonable sort of cordless drill to turn over a 13hp motor, jump starter pack fitted where the battery goes is much cheaper than a big power cordless drill
My Dad use to start the mower with his drill back in the late 70s...
he ground down the end of a socket extension to fit in the drill, I can remember it nearly pulling my arms off (9/10yr old kid) & the words I got told, " Bet that hurt & Bet ya won't be doing that again" 70s Dad OHS regs.
Regards, Paul
Such is life....... Nothing better than a "GreenField" just mowed..
Don't know if i'm game to try this though, taking about OHS.....!!
Use a 1/2" Coach (Cup head) bolt & nut with a 1/2" drive socket the correct size, grind the round bolt head down so its fits inside the socket. The square part of the bolt fit the square end of the socket.
I use one of those old 240 volt Makita teck screw guns to start my Victas. I use it because it has more torque than my DeWalt pistol drill which really strained. I use one of those 1/2" drive adapters to fit the socket. I refer to it as my "electric starter" my Mrs. thinks I'm a nutter. And yes. It really wears thin walking 200 meters back to the house when you stall the old Talon in 4' grass several times.
