Doesn't leave you with a back up plan if the motor stops down in the back paddock though

Just take a cordless drill with you.

John, I think it would require a reasonable sort of cordless drill to turn over a 13hp motor, jump starter pack fitted where the battery goes is much cheaper than a big power cordless drill

My Dad use to start the mower with his drill back in the late 70s...

he ground down the end of a socket extension to fit in the drill, I can remember it nearly
pulling my arms off (9/10yr old kid) & the words I got told, " Bet that hurt & Bet ya won't be doing that again" 70s Dad OHS regs.

Paul

Hi all,

Also found this on the net (YouTube still images)

Don't know if i'm game to try this though, taking about OHS.....!!

Use a 1/2" Coach (Cup head) bolt & nut with a 1/2" drive socket the correct size, grind the round bolt head down so its fits inside the socket.
The square part of the bolt fit the square end of the socket.

I use one of those old 240 volt Makita teck screw guns to start my Victas. I use it because it has more torque than my DeWalt pistol drill which really strained. I use one of those 1/2" drive adapters to fit the socket. I refer to it as my "electric starter" my Mrs. thinks I'm a nutter. And yes. It really wears thin walking 200 meters back to the house when you stall the old Talon in 4' grass several times.

Use a 1/2" Drive Drill Adapter like this one.
