I think you're leading the way with this invitation to discuss this genre. It is relatively new, and it will only get more popular. I have always believed in the power of the image - and the moving image more so.
Thoughts: [1] I like the way the still images are made dynamic by software scrolling and panning. Your image selection had good photographs for illustration.
[2] AS in Jay Leno's Garage, you get to see what's 'under the hood' That can be a valuable record in itself. So I liked the mechanicals and then the dress metal.
[3] For me, these Mower Dedication Videos [MDV ] should feature the mower and not the music preference of the author. I think you have the balance right here, with the fading in of the video audio. There is nothing worse than a MDV being a front for MTV.
I guess I should ask: what are the ingredients for a successful, short MDV? I personally would like to believe that there is no one right way; but many wrong ways. But it is a worthwhile question, I think.
Here's one I quite like in the blending of the soundtrack to activity. I like the way the music builds and then quickly halts. The kid running off when the engine starts is a nice touch.
Love your work. ----------------------------- JACK
