She arrived today after some travelling, Always wanted a Purple mower and after a clean it is better than expected. Crank case numbers would seem to correspond but the experts will be my best guide. 7 740 308 . reference number to order parts on air filter end cap V141.
That's in incredulous condition but ouch my eyes!! Even John Travolta would consider that too disco for him! Nah mate that's beautiful and cleaned up very well. Look at those handles!!
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Hi Cyberjack!! Tickle me pink I happened to be playing Gloria Gaynor's official music video for I Will Survive several times yesterday and once again today. I was mainly drawn by the roller girl (presumably) portraying a younger Gloria Gaynor and her entrancing moves on her skates. I can imagine a purple Pace and VC Sports looking on in admiration parked somewhere in the crowd here.

I'm not a photographers backside Jack but did try for this one, I like the late afternoon pics which highlight the different hue's of colour. You should see the pics I deleted as they were cringe worthy, AAh the beauty of digital camera's, take a million pics and one of them will be ok. Sheer coincidence that the last three numbers stamped on the crank case are 308, one of the great v8's, there will be a purple Monaro out there with a 308. Can't help thinking that the styling of the lower handle bars rising from the rear deck in the same colour may have derived from the Plymouth Superbird or Dodge Charger rear spoiler look. Very interesting Max that the muffler on your lovely unit has the half painted, half slightly rusted look exactly as mine does, probably to do with where the most heat is generated in the muffler during running.
G'day MF, Max and wce In many ways this topic defines ODK.

MF, all I could imagine was the purple Pace prancing the floor in your video. ... and a VC Sports looking on [with jealousy]. Is that wrong?

Here's one of mine ,the mower not the purple pants.
Sure Max ... As a pre-teen, my mother made me wear purple flairs, white belt, and high-heel purple shoes to church. I think a paisley shirt ensued. I understood what humiliation meant from an early age.
Your fourth image is provocative in a VC PC age. Rolph - apparently - knew how to use his third leg ...
wce, that's hilarious! If you're not a 'photographer's backside' your camera knows about aperture. I love the afternoon pics too! Afternoon sunlight can make images look great!
The best point you make is the 'Gruen effect' - the transfer of experience from auto to mower.
I think I should go through my wardrobe, I believe my purple Fletcher Jones flairs are still in there.
Norman, don't play the 'I believe' game. You know exactly where 'those pants' are!
In 1994, the International Court for Crimes Against Fashion [ICCAF] was set up in the Hague, Netherlands. The Fletcher Jones Flair pants were singled out on many occasions and international warrants were issued.
The AUS government of the day acted - following recommendations - and had an amnesty period [1996-98] for these pants to be surrendered. This was widely advertised across Australia [print, radio, TV, Cinema] at that time.
I was extremely busy during that period 1996-98 and I must admit that I overlooked it, or was that the period I was supposed to hand my guns in. I remember hearing something about a buyback scheme or was that for the purple pants
The Jacaranda's are in bloom in some of the older suburbs so I thought I would get a few more pics, no more I promise ! unless my wife finds me a pair of Purple pants when she is Op shopping. Some excellent humour by all has had me laughing on this topic.

. G'day wce, Norm, Max, MF, Gizmo and all fashion lovers I don't think one finds purple pants; they find you. We, as mortals, are only custodians of style and taste.
wce, my favourite of the latest set must be the first one - the 3/4 front shot. A beautiful touch are the fallen leaves on the deck. Stunning!
Your machine features in the latest ODK magazine.
Many thanks all for a lively and funny conversation. Norm, you have perfect comedic timing. Thank you!

p.s. wce, have you considered naming this mower 'Alvin'?
Yes Jack Alvin did cross my mind but as this is a family friendly forum I left that one alone, having said that the mower does some sex appeal and being a mower it has probably dealt with it's fair share of roots in it's time. I have checked with every news agent in the Southern Hemisphere but I cannot find a stockist of the ODK magazine, can you please send a copy ( insert Dr Hooks song, Cover of the rolling stone )
I have checked with every news agent in the Southern Hemisphere but I cannot find a stockist of the ODK magazine ...
G'day wce. Look, you're not the first member to make that point ...
There are 32 countries in the Southern Hemisphere from five of the Earth's continents. You must have made a lot of checking there!
Unfortunately, ODK has only secured one outlet for each of these three countries: - Burundi, Eswatini, and Seychelles.
ODK Mag is sold on an 'under the counter' basis in a plain wrapper.
Your feature appears in the December issue [sealed section], and the mag is only made available in the final week of the preceding month. Hence, you were too early!!!
You must "nudge, nudge; wink, wink" at the counter attendant and whisper the secret passphrase: "Jeffrey Epstein didn't commit suicide".
Hope this helps. ---------------------------------- Jack
I shall get in touch with them all again and repeat the process as per your instructions. I still feel as though I'm rooted on this one but anything purchased in plain wrapping has to be good.
Hi all, Yep and as a Christmas special the Purple pace will also feature in the December edition of Lawn Machine Magazine and Gardeners World Magazine.
