There were actually two low arch bases sold into the late 1970s as budget/ store brand models along side the higher priced high arch models. It was probably Victa's way of getting extra mileage out of these moulds which dated from the 1960s, before finally ditching them and using their lower priced hi arch base for the cheaper/store brand models. These are a good tough mower but not as desirable or smart looking as the high arch alloy based version.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
