Old story, my son lent to a friend of ours my shredder last Christmas, this bloke then lent it to his brother and it has taken me nearly 12 months for it to be returned. I had a look at it and the bottom of the shredder bowl was half full of water, with the hammers in the water pretty rusted up. I pulled it all apart and sharpened the blades and cleaned up the rust as best I could, hammers are now swinging freely. Then I decided to try starting it, it will run with fuel poured down the carby but no hope of running without that. I have pulled the carby, and the gasket was trashed and I seem to be only ably to find the gasket in a complete gasket kit, which is worth more that I'm prepared to spend on this muncher, because I will probably never use it again. Should I be able to blow/suck through the carby pick up tube, at this stage I can't. I haven't pulled the engine cowl to get the number because it is going to be difficult to get off and I can't see the numbers but I believe it to be in this engine number range 297615 397145 495603. Moral of this story, is don't lend equipment, The bloke who borrowed it is smart enough, but his brother, not so smart
