For us to be able to help you with dating your Scotty, we will need you to post some extra pics of your machine. Without these we would be just flying blind. wink

Please include one pic of the front of the machine (cylinder reel and bedknife) and one of the machine with the chain-case cover removed. Please also the complete string of numbers (Model, Type and Code) stamped into the air cowling of the Briggs engine.

This one will be hard to date, because as you may know, the Mower Number is useless for dating a Scotty, as they didn't run sequentially.
I suspect, as you do, that there has been an engine change...but it is an early machine, late 60's, early 70's. wink
