Hi,
I'm new to here and to the restoration of machinery, although I have had the desire to restore something like an old tractor for some time, I have lowered my sights to my recent purchases, my two mowers.
The Thomas Green and Son has a 1951 Villiers on it, it turns over ok, but is going to be a back to bare metal restoration. I would like to get a new/reconditioned reel and blade, if possible as the existing reel is almost rusted away. I have joined the Old Lawnmower Club of UK for information on this unit.

The Scott Bonnar tag is 45 32239, and the 2HP B&S is a Model 60102, Type 030201 and Code 7111103, so looks like the engine was made in 1971. I would like to get a new / reconditioned reel and base blade, and if there any out there a catcher, has anyone any leads to replacement parts? The engine started in three pulls, after changing the oil, new plug, and cleaned the air filter, and a wee drop of carby cleaner in the tank, so I will only be doing an external restore on it.

Any pointers, especially on parts would be much appreciated.

Cockie

Ive had a few greens mowers, they do turn up from time to time. Yours is missing the chain/ reel guard.

Scott bonnar catchers are bloody hard to find. You can shell out $200 odd for a new one or strike it lucky

Millzy555, Yes there are two pieces missing, the other is the aluminium cover over the flywheel. I intend to try to get a sketch of the chain / reel guard and see if I can fabricate one.

Hi Cockie,

Welcome to the ODK Forums.

As far as your 45 is concerned the 14 inch machine is probably the one with the least amount of issues due to it's width thus it has the strongest of chassis' in the 45 model line up.

There's no need to obtain a new reel as yours only requires sharpening from the limited amount of images you've put up and who knows about the Bed Knife without seeing it first. It may only also require a grind but then again most times people replace and grind at the same time.

If you could put up some more close up images of around the machine and also under it looking from the front to the bed knife that would be really helpful.

Cheers,
BB.

Hey Cockie,

Bit off topic,

But have you bought your Neil Diamond tickets yet for the 20th of March next year ? This must be the biggest thing to hit Townsville's "1300 SMILES Stadium" in history.

Cheers,
BB.

BB,
I will probably be there in my capacity as a Volunteer in Policing. Us VIP's attend all the NRL home games to man the on site Police office, we usually go to other events as well to ensure radios are charged, and booked out and returned, as well as ensuring all paperwork is completed and signed off, etc.

Yes I have Hot August Night.

Cockie

I'll get the photos of the undercarriage today.

Ah, no Mod BB...

Cockie said, "I will probably be there in my capacity as a Volunteer in Policing."
I think we have only established one 'ND fan' on this site. grin

"Yes I have Hot August Night." is ambiguous - a statement of possession.
Like, "I have a pastel blue Safari Suit". Something I would never own.

I think 'policing' will be an easy job on the night.
The ambos will be busy - needing to attend to all the senior citizens in attendance.
You know, denture fall-outs, wheel chair surfing and the like grin

I am so in trouble.

You have a Pastel Blue Safari Suit ???

Now that explains it all, you're definitely not in a position to comment.

Enough said !!.
