That's a Victa Commodore base from about 1979/1980. That would be the last of that design produced. You could hit those cracks with an aluminium welder from underneath to secure therm or just get the scrap value. What would a typical scrap yard pay?
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi Norm,
You're dealing with the wrong scrap yard. Most decent yards pay good money for Ally. We've got a scumbag one close to us that will only pay $1.00 for a car battery when we all know they are worth around $8.00 plus depending on size.
In Adelaide a company called "Trading Metals" pays the best money for scrap, more than anyone else, but in saying that I wouldn't expect you to come over here just to dispose of a Lawn Mower base. There are much better places out there with contracts to fill quotas and those pay the best coin.
Cheers, BB.

It's a nice chunk of aluminium to melt down and they reject it. To lousy to even give you the price of a latte for it? There is a scrap yard I have been told about who only accept non ferrous metal from "consumer grade" people like myself. So I take it to mean even they would give you something for that base. Australian dealers in general are becoming stingier by the year.
