I had a bloke come around today wanting to look at a near new Tiger 16 inch baby mower suitable for a very small manicured lawn. I wasn't convinced because I asked him several times "how much lawn did he have and how long it was" I got "it is just an average small block and the grass is about this high (I figured with his hand gestures at about 8 inches)" I convinced him that I thought he needed a Victa because the poor little Tiger would not last 5 mins. He couldn't fit the Victa in his car so I said I would drop it off for him as he didn't live far away. When I got to his place the front grass (certainly not a lawn was very short with a few weeds sticking up, the nature strip was long and thick. The rear yard and all along the side of the house was waist high grass. I think I just saved a poor little Tiger from extinction

The Victa will love it...so long as it's Victa engined!

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Yep, it has a Powertorque motor fitted, I had to show him how to use it, stand it up on the back wheels and push it in,lower onto the front wheels and pull it back, not good on any 4 stroke

When the engine almost stalls, back it off then dive in for another and another and another and another....

I didn't try walking in the back yard off the path but towards the back corner of the yard it was probably shoulder high at least 3/4 of the fence height and he thought he could cut it down with a poor little 16 inch toy Chonda

Try doing that with a little self propelled Honda!

The Honda self propelled gearbox would end up spread all over the grass

I have seen small mowers trashed by people trying to mow too much grass that is too thick and high for them to handle. Well saved Norm!

I usually get my 20 year old Rover out if the grass gets away on me. It chugs away like a champ, ripping through the thickest grass with ease. Meanwhile my "new" self-propelled Supaswift struggles and always ends up getting itself clogged up.

I just got an email from the numbnutter that bought this mower from me saying it doesn't work. I emailed him back asking if he had put fuel in it and the reply I got was "not yet", they are not the brightest from the sub continent

Next e-mail you'll get is after he has straight-fuelled it, and seized the engine...

Not too good at taking verbal info on board, many of those subcontinental types.

I had another one turn up this afternoon after the same poor little Tiger, when I asked him how high the grass was at least he told me it was up to his knees

The only time I like dealing with that race is buying a curry.
