Hi all, I bought this mower at a lawn sale here in Darwin for a couple of hundred dollars. As with most second hand bargains it came with a few issues. LOL The starter was missing so old mate was starting it with a rattle gun and the idler pulley bearing between the drive disks had no bearing left so it was riding on the bearing races and chewing into the mounting bolt . These things were easily fixed, A second hand starter from ebay at the right price and a new bearing sorted out the most immediate problems but there are some issues that need to be sorted out in the not to distant future. The most major of these is the bottom seal on the engine, at the moment it's got a lot in common with a land rover in that it shares the land rover patented under chassis lubricating system, the oil is dropped onto the V belt drive pulley and flung around coating most everything with a film of engine oil, this needs to be fixed before the next wet season,
The question I have is this, the mower has an electric switch to engage the cutter deck which appears to be a clutch setup on the output shaft of the engine, I can see a plate with springs attached above the v belt pulley. Is there anything special I need to know when I remove this to replace the bottom seal ?
As stated in the title its a rancher model 18188, serial number 22068 ,it has a 14 horse B&S Vanguard engine model 261777, type 015601, code 921000233.

cheers
Pete
