Why replace it that is perfectly fine just well ventilated.  Actually it beyond hope except for the spares. I usually try replace with the same size engine or slightly larger.

Can't you just rivet some tin with over the crankcase? Only two strokes need an air tight seal.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Briggs do that Sean, base looks ok, wheels are good,handle fold down bolt look good, great score

Now there's your problem.You forgot to check the air cleaner.I have to ask though.Is it worth fixing?

That motor will fit straight on Sean, best to make sure it runs before you bother swapping it over
