The G4 is actually not that common now, as it was only produced for three years before being superseded by the LM.

The surest way to tell is to unscrew the main jet and pull it out. If the jet has an extended 'nose' beyond the thread, it's an LM.

If it's a G4, it won't have that, and the 'spray tube' should come out with it.

See also this past thread for more detail: https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=38908

Thanks Gadge, looks like all the ones we have are LM then, now if I could just work out how to have some throttle control with these carbs they would be great. This motor starts up on half a pull of the cord, that part is brilliant. I have swapped several carbs on it with varying speed control problems, most run high revs and that is it. Very annoying when I want to understand what is going on

Also from what I have found is that most G4's didn't have a primer,a grey face not a white cap. Most would have been replaced by now. That's why on G4 fitted mowers had remote primers on them, but for sure the spray tube on the end of the jet is the biggest differents.

Here for a good time, not a long time.
