Hi again everyone!
This weekend I have bought some more items. I bought a Pace hubcap, a Kirby KV-30 and a Victa BP can at a swap meet.
On Sunday afternoon we went to Toowoomba to pick this mower up that I had bought. I am unsure what it is but I think it may be a mysterious Buzacott Buz-A-Cut. It has the same type of engine, appears to have the same features as the Buz-A-Cut and I bought it in a town it was sold at. It does however have a different fuel tank (if the advertisement is correct and this is a Buz-A-Cut) and modifications to the handle bars. If this is a Buz-A-Cut then I may consider buying the Buz-A-Cut ad on ebay.

I am trying to upload another image of the Buz-A-Cut, it is too big so i am going to have to take another picture. Sorry about the side ways images, I am unsure how to fix that, Patrick has started a thread about that here .

Hi Kye

that's great news!
Though interfered with, this mower is clearly rare.

If ever there was a nondescript mower it would be this one.
The steel wheels do help to date it, but the other distinctive feature
is the shallow concave base. Quite unusual in its shape.

It is unfortunate about the snorkel modification - the air drawing
through the handle bar makes no sense at all; but would be a recipe for
drawing in moisture and rust.

The engine is a lovely Simplex, muffler is a Pope, and the blade holder
is by Victa. Something has happened around the tank area - it does not
accord with the crude illustration of the Buz-A-Cut illustration.

Nonetheless, I agree with you; I feel this mower was a Buz-A-Cut.
Best guess - 1956-57.

I will need to find some Simplex parts, the engine needs to be repaired and i also have a Simplex on my Pace that needs fixing. I might even use a Victa Rotomo tank if I can find one for cheap so it at least looks original. Is the Pope exhaust usable without the little pipe coming out or is it stuffed?

Hi Kye,

Nice pick up, I think that's from the same fellow that I bought the Colda and Collect O Matic from.

Really? The bloke at Toowoomba who had a Victa Standard and early Qualcast as well?

I never saw the Qualcast but the standard was there and your mower. Got them out of a garden shed up the back corner of the yard ? Rob was his name.

It sure is a unique looking creature! Is that a reasonable price?

I paid $70 for the Buz-A-Cut, that was the most I would have paid for this. I an unsure if the Qualcast is reasonable but he seems to have put the price up to $550, which is a bit much.
Is that Pope exhaust still usable without the little bit of pipe coming out the end or does it belong in the scrap?

Kye, you must be wheeling and dealing pretty well for a 14 year old to have enough money to go and chase down all the gems you pick up. Well done, Dad should be proud of you.

He wanted $160 for it but when I showed him Jacks post he put it right up, I could have gotten it for $100 but I didn't have enough on me or enough room at home. Should have offered him $150 for bot the Qualcast and Buz-A-Cut.

You have learnt some valuable lessons there Kye, the price will come down. When I met him he seemed like a nice bloke, no harm in trying for a higher price to begin with.
