I have a dilemma. I have a sneaking suspicion that I either did not put oil in the fuel, or didn't put enough oil in although I'm willing to accept that my catastrophic engine failure was due to poor workmanship/materials by Victa. You see my 160 powertorque has operated for no more than 50 hours, yet seized last weekend. I have stripped it down; no bearing damage, only a badly scuffed piston and corresponding damage to the bore. The scuffing is bad enough to have worn a lot of the rings down in one section. I fear that the bore is completely stuffed.
This leads me to my dilemma. Can I resleeve the bore? Is an oversize piston available? Is this machine now junk? Do I waste my time rebuilding it, or should I just go and buy another one.

160powatalk, Where is the main damage on the exhaust side? If so then it would be lack of oil in the fuel and yes you can rebuild the motor with a rebore piston and rings. The cost would be around the $60 to $90 mark for the parts. This takes around two hours to do if you have the right tools.

You know what, the major damage is midway between both ports. I'm certain the fuel was properly mixed. Anyway, thanks for the advice. I'm going to take old mate up on his offer of a used block. I have a piston and rings set arriving shortly...
