Hi Paradox,

As you have the washer there to protect the chassis I'd just go straight for the grinder.

Now as far as reassembly is concerned you'll have to purchase absolutely identical thickness bolts. You should have no free play when the bolts are inserted losely. This ensures that the sole plate is sitting in exactly the correct position when tightened up.

Also one point to note and that is that all the four bolts should be pointing towards the left hand side of the machine (chain case side) that way the threads are protected from abrasion, so the bolt heads should be on the outside of the frame with the nuts on the inside and on the LH side of the machine the bolts should be pushed through from the sole plate with the nuts being done up inside the chain case.

Hope this makes sense to you, if not don't hesitate to ask and I'll re-clarify.

Cheers,
BB

Thanks BB, that makes sense. If that had occurred I would not have this issue...thanks.

I have printed off the exploded assembly plans and am marking each piece I need to replace so once done I can order off the shop here.

I also have one of those multi compartment plastic boxes and fastenings are going in there with descriptions written on top what is in each....

Hi Paradox,

Yes that's the way to do it, just like good panel beaters they have many containers that they put each lot of bolts into thus they don't just chuck them all into a bucket and then just pull out what they might think fits into a hole upon reassembly.

It's a good practice to get into.

Cheers,
BB

Well,

12 months on and I sort of lost my way on this project. The time I had to work on it sort of got eaten up and I kind of need my garage back....:P

Is anyone in the Brisbane area interested in taking a mostly disassembled 45 off my hands? I'm at Wellington Point.
