Hey mate,

I have around 200 people working for me in some capacity. I will NEVER hire a friend or family member. Won't even hire a friend of a friend.

It can just end so badly that it's just not worth the risk.

BUT no-one here can give you an answer to your situation. Only you know all the facts so only you can make the right INFORMED decision.

bad Idea.... been burnt twice, many many years ago... never again!!

Like oil & water, shake it up & it will mix then settles & separates

same from me too , had a guy helping me out here a while ago as i got too busy , all he did was make a mess of a lot of jobs and seemed to think its ok , he's a mate !! cost us a friendship of 13 years .

so as others said matey its your choice always but not a great idea really . only once did i work with friends and it did workout well

There's an old saying about never lend a friend money as you will lose the friend and the money. Same thing probably applies to employing one unless you know for sure that he has the track record of being a reliable trustworthy worker that won't take advantage of your friendship.

best way if you value the friendship...

Pete and guido update.
Due to advice i have forced pete into retirement.
guido is not happy and wants a facelift.
then gary turned up to takeover.

he has a bit of his tooth missing.
Guido wants silver streaks apparently.
Pete is moping around my boneyard trying to strike up conversations with my 18s.

It's a lawn mower soap opera!

Will Pete find true love in retirement? Or will Gary cut the neighbour's grass? Stay tuned for the next instalment...

All we need is someone to think up a cutting (sorry) name!

How about a theme song?
Lawn mowers,
Everybody needs good lawn mowers,
With a little Briggs and Stratton,
You can keep cutting all daaaaaay...
rockband
(Sorry Barry)

P. S. You had me fully suckered earlier too cheers2

P.p.s. Darn, just noticed Jack beat me to the punch!

That's hilarious Patrick!
I can't get that tune - and lyrics - out of my head.
I fear Sean of the Lawn will be encouraged here...

A soapie exploring mower relationships...
There's busy body Mrs Mangles that chops everything in her path.
And what about Victaoria with the loose skirt ...
I'll stop now.

Gave gary a facelift [Linked Image]
Dirtiest mower. took him apart and left him in the rain for a few days now has weak spark. when changing the blade plate found the end of the shaft bent so i tightened up the nut with a 4 foot breaker bar. it now seems to be even flush against the boss.
now i plan on pulling the cowls off and cleaning the flywheel, as i live on the beach it may be rust. it started fine last week all i did was clean it and use heaps of glue on the plastic extension. any help would be much appreciated.

you leave the 'ol mate out in the rain it will seep inside slowly throught the top nut and if near the beach corrode points fast , yank it n give em a clean and everything else too while your in there , what shaft was bent i dare to ask !!!

the end where the blade plate lives seemed only bent for the last 3/4 inch. the thread was pretty bad so i took my time and cut a new thread on it. it is definately a spark prob. will rip the flywheel off and clean them up. lucky i have jimbob to work for me tomorrow

lookstough too there seanbob . so its the crank was bent huh ? how the .... you do that ! never ever seen a victa bent yet . but i am new to all this stuff too remember .

just a tip for ya and maybe others , if you leave them outside cover the air filter with something too as it runs down inside the snorkle , and leave on the starter too or cover it as it seeps in under the top flywheel nut slooooooooooooowly and badabing . your problem now weak spark or none at all
