ease up there tiger !!!! we dont wanna start breaking things huh you get an air leak and it will run like uuuuuum , you know ' done once done right heard of it ? but sure use them if only to make sure all is ok , then pull it down again , base and head gaskets , and hide the green bits . a small roll of the right paper is much really but you dont have it now do you . and not glossy on one side maybe ? take your time mate , best way to learn slowly surely

See if you can rig up some sort of explosive device to the kill switch ... That'll scare the grass so much it won't grow back! Pete

goodo , so you tried starting it yet ? is the cutout working on it , if you can see it which it looks like you can clearly , put it all the way to stop and you should see the centre pin (grey/white one) move towards the brown or black wire if it moves it should be ok , if it doesnt ? you can pull out both wires fr the mpment and just touch them together to kill it if it runs away or just pull of plug lead . what did you pull apart just the float/primer cap or all of it . if all of it did you make sure the bit with 3 points is in the slots inside the carb' body ?

no I havent tried to start it yet. I pulled the primer cap off and the cap on the side, took off the plate connecting to the poppet vv had a look its all in the right spot, set it to C. put it back together. I forgot to put the belt on correctly so will have to take the blades off and loosen the motor. then i will test it

maybe a job for you tomorrow then while your out swing buy and grab some correct paper or a shop and pick up some head n base gaskets . in all the rush maybe you broke a ring fitting the piston back in rings didnt look too good anyway . if you fitted a known good carb and it still does same thing then its internal as i said if you get a leak from base gasket or anywhere it wont run or run so badly you wish it didnt take your time , look at things a lot harder , relax and enjoy it . good to learn yes , but better to learn to do it right 1st time and not rush it mate some 20' over rings and some new gaskets maybe a bottom seal too now you know how to get at it and should be allgood

so if you seen one working now you have incentive to get it up n running a fair bit of pressure on a boss when you think about it , would you really like to be nearby if it failed ? or worse still got tired of the machine and it failed on the new owner !!! again , slowly surely do it once n do it right , then when it fires up the 1st time you use the PULLSTARTER its a great feeling take your time

because it can change the metal and weaken it distort it . if you tried a carb that you know was working and it didnt start , then back on the other machine and it works then a problem inside engine rings not sealing , a leak somewhere . i didnt say let it go , i said do it the right way . slowly with correct parts . or good parts if you fitted those things you made last night im surprised it even kicked they might be an easy simple little engine BUT they still need things in good condition no leaks , rings sealing good top n bottom seals too . or take the head barrel and piston from the other engine and use correct gaskets . in the time this has taken now we could have stripped polished , painted and rebuilt an engine in a lot less time done the RIGHT way

ok , but why not just do a rebuild on the one you have already , no machining and the bore didnt look beyond it really , just a hone and some rings , new gaskets maybe a bottom seal and good to go again
