Picked up my EBay win this morning, I took a bit of a punt that it was an ex automatic. I could see some wear in the base where the front flap might have been. I am pretty happy with it but will leave it to the experts for confirmation. Of course all the good bits are gone long ago.

Nice score Paul,

I think you know enough now to find your assumption to be accurate. smile

Correct colouring
Strong wear evidence of flaps being fitted
Badge, cap and groove cover correct
Remnants of skirt mount bolts
No height adjust slit
And most importantly, correct serial, both top and bottom for early auto.
About a thousand or so of the earliest variant with axle nips, but very early nonetheless.

Regardless of its missing bits, its still a desirable part of any collection, and very worthy of saving.

Great Score! Hope the price was good, and glad the vulture wreckers didnt out bid you to part it out, as historically any auto is worth preserving, especially in the hope of one day finding the missing pieces.

I feel the price was a good one, engine has been fully overhauled as well. Thanks for the reassurance there HT6.

Nice pickup Paul, certainly looks like it's never been messed with.

Thanks Pete, I will give it a little tidy up. Just needs a few bits replaced for now, fuel tap and throttle are easy.

A bloody little ripper i would think. i'm no auto expert, gut it would seem to be one that has been 'decomishend' as an auto by a dealer, and just used as intended since. almost perfect to leave as is??
as to not being around, we just got back from a month in the US , what a difference in the whether man!!!

Hi Pete,
I intend to leave it as is, auto parts are just to dear. It occurred to me today to check the carb slide to see if it was a twin cable one. It is yay

Yeah Id leave it to...enhance all the parts add the starter and the like.

Yeah Paul, pretty common to find the twin slide intact. The early factory warranty fixed reverts ran a diecast/alloy plug in the second hole. The later shop fixes usually got the single cap put on.

Thanks everyone, I have a few starters, throttles and air filters. Which style of each would be the correct fitting for the model ?

I found a starter that was a good match, looks like it has always been there. Added the fuel tap and choke as well

Perfect! Well mated regarding Patina.

Just the correct pull knob and a couple of genuine wheels and she'll be pretty much spot on.

Great little Original Paul.

Thanks HT6, I need the green knob ? But if a black one comes up I will grab it, how can you tell original wheels from the replacements ?

The knob is alloy and comes in 2 mirrored halves. The green boot covers the knob and locks it together. A black boot was also available as a later genuine replacement.

The front wheels for AM are yellowish and have several cross lines in the tread. Genuine are white/Cream.

Left rear looks Gen, fronts look AM.
