Hi Rolla16v,
2K colours can be transposed over to other formats of paint. That's been done for years now with all the different types of paints that have been developed over the years. Honestly though I can't see any advantages of going to 2K over standard Hammertone enamels, the only thing I can see is a drastic increase in cost as 2K is way over the top in price point, just ask most Crash Repairers (Smash Repairers if you're in Sydney)about how the paint companies are ripping them blind with over $100 a litre. Hi Marty, I agree totally that there's no point in using 2k instead of a standard hammertone enamel - especially for the purists such as yourself, as the factory paint certainly wasn't 2k. I have some different plans and applications however, where 2k is better value (even at $100/L) and more suitable. It sounds like you've been very thorough with your investigations and thank you so much for your efforts It will be absolutely fantastic if you can get the colours matched and kept on file by a major paint supplier for all future restorers to use. Can't wait to hear how you go next week! Thanks again Michael

Hi all, I've been extremely busy with work over the last month (moving workshops) but I found a spare 5 minutes to go through the colour chips and match one of the SB45 shades of green. Here is a pic of the match plus the colour code. I can also post the PPG basecoat formula if it will help. Sorry it is not hammertone, only metallic. Hope this may be of some use to others ![[Linked Image]](https://www.outdoorking-forum.com.au/forum/uploads/usergals/2014/05/full-6396-16603-20140429_092945a.jpg)

Hi Michael,Thanks for posting that info....I feel, after examining my Model 45 chassis, which is still in original paint, that the colour is a sort of bronzey almost olive shade... it is a a hard colour to explain. I worked for a time in the automotive paint section for Dulux, and part of my job was eye matching paint colours, and this, being a corporate colour, is a hard one to match exactly, especially in hammertone, which all SB aficionados prefer for their restos.
Please do not PM me asking for support. Please post your questions in the appropriate forums, as the replies it may receive may help all members, not just the individual member. Kindest Regards, Darryl

Hi Guys,
I still haven't had a chance to drop in at Solver / Wattyl at Kilburn to speak to a chap down there that I spoke to on the phone, but I will do it some time soon and maybe we can come up with the exact same colour as we are all searching for. As we all know there are about 5 variants of green that were used over the years, especially in the 1950's and 60's, but it's the alpine green style colour that everyone is chasing which was used from around 1975 through to when Scott Bonnar was absorbed by Rover and they introduced that crappy Kermit green.
Cheers, BB.

Hi Dave,
No I haven't tried Protech's as yet and thanks for the heads up with them. Solver will do custom hammertone to order but it really was all about trying to track down the company that supplied Scott Bonnar here in Holland Street Thebarton, Adelaide so that we could get the original formulas for all the different greens they used over the years. It would've been an Adelaide manufacturer as I'm sure they wouldn't have had paint shipped from interstate.
This is the holy grail that we've been trying to achieve for some time now.
Cheers, BB.
