its in fairly good condition although the plastic cowl is missing the edge at the front where the front 3 screws go to hold it to the base

You lucky bast@#$t I've been trying to get that same model for over 12 months now.All I have is a base and dead and broken cowl.I have the other 3 Auto drives but not that one. You'd better take care of it or I'll be on your door to pick it up.Don't know why I don't have any of the luck.Oh well enjoy it.Wish I could find one.

The starter will be the harder part to fix as it is the green one.Cowl is fixable just have to use some fibre glass to fix it.It has done the same on the cowl I have, but my one is much worse. If I can't find the rest of the mower then I won't bother to fix it.I guess I'll see what happens in the future.

i was thinking of getting a paint matched to the cowl and just painting a standard white starter but first things first i need to get the sself propelled handle and cable, belt ect.

any VC cowl will do they are all the same only thing is the green paint and you could get that easy from a good paint shop its only fibre glass....as for the rest looks in top nick,a even a better light green starter will show up one day if your on the look out for one...id say you have one of the harder VC's out there to find and don't they know it haha... good luck holding out with the offer's you will get from the VC collectors ...cheers

Well painting a white one will be the best way,to hard finding another green one.Sorry can't help you with parts.I only have enough parts to fix the auto drives I have.I really need to find myself another one or two just for parts.

Yes we just moved from Canberra and was staying at Ty's and last week he had move as well.I know he hadn't finished that so I'm guessing they are finishing that off this weekend.Oh plus I believe he has a new woman as well.I know I'm still waiting for a return phone call back from Thursday night.Anyway I guess we just have to wait.

I do believe i sent Ty home with a spare diff for one of those.

I think there is just a gear that slips on over the shaft and it has a flat metal tab that goes in the slot.

Something like that.

Dont get too impatient.
Keep an eye out for antoher one to help with the restore. You need the cable and handle and im tipping you will need to buy a whole mower to get them. You might be able to get a new replacement cable but i doubt you would get the handle.

Yes that's right Bob but that spare one went on an Auto Drive that I had that had gear box problems. So it has been used.

I do indeed have a spare Diff here, and a few other parts, some have been promised to someone else, but have not heard from him in quite some time, so maybe they will go to you If I can't get hold of him (I think I have the control lever too)

I will pop up some diagrams of those drive gears, from memory they are not interchangeable with the drive gears of the 550.

If you can get a full list together of what you don't have (once I have given you the diagrams of coarse) that would be really good, as i can see how much of it I can get together for you.

Cheers
Ty
