Hey all got this mower this weekend - as said in title Victa Corvette V40 1967-68 with a 3q carb , although i am puzzled by crankcase markings the previous owner believes the marking stands for one millionth and for all i know he could well be right. Starts and runs well need to find a replacement body its is cracked under the handle mounts.
crankcase numbers are - 58 6794 458 and above the usual numbers it has 1 M stamped into it.
cheers ,tomo

looks the same as one i have , handle mounts have been welded (not too well) they do come off the base so dont chuck it yet !!! i think you will be lucky to find them . did it come with a catcher ? it would be great to see one . heres mine if you look close i think you can see the welds

hey Dave
Yours looks to be the same model .
just been in the shed tinkering and what ive found is that the casting of the body has broken
away around the handle mount plates so there is no longer anything to bolt the handle too short of welding a patch in
and welding up the cracks they arent an easy metal to weld either.
sorry no catcher although have had one in the past can tell you they are a dark green plastic catcher similar in shape to the sunbeam mower catchers.
have you got yours up and running yet ? does yours have the 1M stamp on the crankcase above the numbers ?
cheers , tomo

no 1m stamp i can see , just the numbers you see before and yup its up n running now . starter was slooooooow but cleaned out the years of crud and it spins a lot faster now , starts easy and runs sweet . shame about the base , mine is just the steel mount that broken . a mate rewelded and i cleaned it up looks ok but not great . i'll keep an eye out for another base , and thanks for the cathcer advice mate . found this online -
1965 the company has sold 860,000 mowers for a total turnover exceeding 37 million pounds and will, on present estimates, make its millionth mower during the 1966-67

Hey Dave.
No luck as yet either.
Sounds good must say ive never seen a power torque completely blown up! they always seem repairable. is it in good condition i saw a vortex up close for the first time the other day local mower shop had it for sale second hand.
hope a corvette body turns up soon and hope its got complete handles then i can send you a mount for yours.
cheers , mitch
