I bought a Honda Master Series lawnmower last spring. Since last summer, once I start the engine and mow grass for about 20 minutes, the engine begins to miss and sputter. I must disengage the blade for several minutes and allow the engine to idle before the engine will run normally again. I have changed the spark plug, installed a new air filter, and tried fresh gasoline; but none of these actions have solved the problem. I even took the mower back to the dealer, but they claimed there was nothing wrong.

Have you heard of similar complaints from other Honda owners? What else can I do to solve the problem?

It sounds like your mower is running too hot, possibly as a result of a too lean mixture. Try turning the mixture screw on the carburettor, out a little (about 1/2-turn). Also make sure the cooling fins are not blocked up with dirt and grass cuttings.

WHAT DID THE OLD SPARK PLUG LOOK LIKE ? YOU MAY HAVE A BLOWN HEAD GASKET.OR A LOOSE CARBURETOR. ALSO CHECK THE VALVE ADJUSTMENT AND SEE IF THERE`S PROPER CLEARANCE.......mkfarnamW mk.farnam@gateway.net mkfarnam@yahoo.com
