Gooday Fellow Mower Maniacs,
I have just had a Scott Bonnar Model 40 delivered from down the street.
Serial Number is 11360.
Anyone? Year of Manufacture? Correct engine?
Engine on there might be a Clinton (so I was told) - but I dont know those American engines.
The carburettor is a Villiers (not original).
No books for these in the forum so I am purchasing one from our online specialiost from Adelaide.
What decals does this model use??
Luckily the handles and levers are still OK.

Hi Stationary, the Model 40 Scott Bonnar was first introduced in 1960 and was powered by a 75cc Villiers 4stroke engine, which, by the way is the one on your machine...the carby is correct also. It has a cutting width of 14" and has an unusual drive set-up....a rubber wheel running inside a steel drum.
Scott Bonnar, at that time, did not use American engines.
The Model 40 was also known as a "terrace mower"
Here's a pic.... [Linked Image]
It was painted in an aqua green solid and had the 60's style decals, as you can see in the pic. wink

Gooday All,

Thank you very much Deejay. I will make a copy of that photo.

It appears that I am missing the chain cover and the catcher.

If there is anyone with these items I would be extremely pleased to get the dimensions, photos etc so as to be able to make them.

Deejay - I have been out to check on the paint on the SB Mk 40.

It is Hammertone (hammertite, hammer) paint dark green - as per Galmet "Avocado" green.

From the looks of it, this is the original colour.

Mister Bonnar must have got this green paint in 44 gallon drums.

Oh and the handles are nickel or chrome plated

Hi Stationary
I have 2 Scott Bonnar Model 40's.One is not original as it has a 2.5 HP Kirby on it, but it is complete with catcher and is the mower I use on my yard. The second has the original Villiers, original paint and is almost complete. It doesn't have the catcher and is missing the carby, exhaust and fuel tank.

Let me know if you still want pictures, dimensions etc of the cover or the catcher. I'll probably be asking you for pics of your carby, exhaust and fuel tank, so we can trade pics.

Its the only pic I have of this one at the moment
