G'day am new member
have an old Greenfields 13/32 which my son run the motor with no oil.
Yep crap have replaced motor with another (old one 13hp Honda, relaced with a 12hp B&S second hand.)
it has same drive shaft diameter fitted in fine.
My problem is that the drive belt for the cutting blades is not set up right?
I cannot seem to nut it out as you move lever to forward to engage cutting and back to dissengage cutting?I thought I had memorized it but it does not seem right.
Pic's would help.

Chris, if you post pictures of the way your belt is currently set up, it is probably easier to get an answer from someone else who has a Greenfield 13-32. Most likely several other Greenfield mowers have the same cutting belt routing. Also, I'm told genuine Greenfield belts come with a diagram on the packaging that shows the routing.

Grumpy, I just put a new belt on for the rear drive and it didn't come with diagram.
I will go to dealer to see if i can get a pic.
It's going to be hard to get pic of cutting belt as i have to use a mirror to see puley and belt but will try to get pic today.

Thanks Chris, it would be helpful to other members if you could post the diagram in this thread.

If you can go to a dealer and not have luck id say thats a very very bad thing.

I would go back to the dealer and demand good luck from the next person up the food chain.
Sales guy, sales manager, manager, dealer principal, dealer principals wife.

If they want to sell Poo they have to offer some degree of customer service. The ones that get repeat customers are ones that offer the best of the best as far as customer service goes.
The ones that are so so but have a monopoly get customers begrudgingly and thats not loyalty.
If they can not answer your questons they should refer it to the parent company and get the answer from them for you.

Sorry but i get a bit pissy with bad customer service.
I like to buy australian and i like to buy local. For conveniance i dont even mind paying a little extra.
I rang the mower dealer in the next suburb over, hes got parts for me before. Wanted to order about $200 worth of bits for the Ride on i bought for my dad, blades and engine service stuff, they never got back to me.

Yep after grinding off 4 bolts undoing 4 more I got to see what was happening with the drive belt for cutting blades.
Well it looks like the mount holes for the Honda motor are the same as B&S motor but the shaft on B&S motor is closer to the front of the frame than the Honda thus I get a loose belt.
Cannot move B&S motor back as it is about 1/4 inch from firewall not enough to take up slack.
The belt is the small one with what looks like teeth on inside of belt the belt runs from top of double pulley from motor to another double pulley near front of frame (top) with an tension idiler that you push forward to pull up the slack and make the pulley turn which in turn makes the belt on bottom of pulley turn main belt to drive blades. you cannot see it until you remove front wheel assembly.(which is a great pain)
going to either attach an fixed idiler pulley or if I can find an link belt(ajustable type.Going to check out link belt on net after this post.tried to get pic's but came out not too clear.
ps dealer is good gives me discount but I don't feel they really know about some stuff.

.

Chris, if there is a spring-loaded belt-tensioning idler, that should have enough movement to tighten your belt. The idler should be on the slack side of the belt, not the tension side: that is, it should be in the part of the belt that is on the way out from the drive pulley, not being pulled back to the drive pulley. Please check the way you have set up the belt-tensioning idler, ensuring that you have the belt on the correct side of it, and the spring is working properly.

Quite a lot of V belts have those grooves on the inside, to allow them to wrap around small diameter pulleys without over-stressing the rubber belt. Heat is the enemy of V belts. Tight turns, and belt slip, are the main causes of belt heating.

Grumpy yep will check it out in day or so as time permits (got to hurry as grass is getting 2 long).

Rodeobob i used 2 use link belts in 60's on potato pealing/ washing machine when as a kid to help out in fish & chips cafe, had a leather links with metal link to join together. when it got 2 loose I'd take out a link. I'd after the potato's came out I'd cut them into chips on a pull down lever through a cutting screen into chip shapes.
There are now new types as you can see if you type in linkbelt on google.mixed reviews on the belt.

Im familiar with that type of belt.
Hence why i mentioned it. I have only ever seen them used on low powered slow moving stuff.

On a ride on mower i think you would be trying your luck sanity and saftey.
