Hi I had this wonderful bloke come and visit me last Saturday, came and swapped and traded mowers.Of yes it was Joe.Anyway part of it was a Consul 2 and this Contessa. The Consul 2 I believe is a 1964-65 Model 521.Now I know that the motor on the Contessa would not be the right motor. My question is would every body agree that it is the same motor as the Consul 2?[Linked Image]

Now I'm hoping that we can agree that it is the same motor, because what I want to do is get the Victa 1963-64 Consul 2 Model 511 base and put that engine on that base.
[Linked Image]
Like that one.So if anybody has this base and no longer needs it.Please please please I would like it.As I am also certain that it would be the correct engine for this base.As well as I need the air box at the front for the other motor as well.
Thanks all.

No the engine is a 1963 model engine. There's no way that base is from 1963 maybe 1973 but not 63.It is a consul 2 engine.Should have been on the base in the picture above.

Yep, Its that consul alright, 63-64, ran in 2 and 4 stroke, along side a 2 and 4 stroke corvette, and a utility.

Should have a 3L carby.

Cheers
Ty

I think thats the base for a V121 from 1972-1973, basic series 70 MKII engine, zip start with a G3.

The Model name at the Victa ends was the Mayfair, but it was often called contessa, depending on what the store (in this case retravision) chose.

I believe Victa generally limited the name choices to a few different options, but enough options to make sure you could have a different mane to the guy next to you.

As I said before I knew that the Consul 2 engine was put onto the other Contessa base.

Spark plug is at an angle, on a series 70 engine, that indicates 125cc.

There is a bulb in the cowl that shows the decompression valve, making it MKII or MKIII.

The sticker is also a MKII sticker, so the serial should point to 1971-1972.

You will find the muffler clips attach to little pegs, as the head is not bolted to long bars, the cylinder is bolted direct, like earlier 125cc's, and the head is bolted into the cylinder.

Here is the end of a 125cc series 70 MKII/III.

See the slanted plug, and the decompression bulge?

Yep, will you be keeping the Contessa as-is, becase this engine is the right age to make a 1972 MKI VC-125

Yep, make the Contessa into the VC-160 look-alike VC-125, as the engine as 'anatomically' and era correct.

Use the sydey one to create a VC-Sports look-alike VC-125, which is an even harder one to find, as the Sydney one's serial shows this is exactly what it came off (find out also if he by chance has the original cowl)
