Here we have one of the mowers that I picked up in the hard rubbish collection from Moruya on the coast. All it needed was a carby clean and a fresh batch of fuel. Then with only one pull away it went.Even mowed the back yard with it.Was very happy with it.Now I've decided to keep it.I think it's in better condition than the one I mow the lawns with.I do think that it may need the bottom bearings done.I'll put the you tube link up.Just have a listen when it stops.Sounds like a bearing knock.Let me know what you think. Here are some pictures.

Also would any body know what model it would be called? The engine was made in 1996.
That's about all I know.
Here is the you-tube link.

Best way to check if thee is any movement in the blade plate if you hold it and rock it against the crank bearings it will show some sort of play if there is a problem smile

Sound good to me.

Put 4 blades on it and the cut will be far better.

Here is mine that I picked up off ebay 2 years ago for $46.00 with a electric mulcher. I was sold as not going. I cleaned the carby and it started first pull!.

Mine maybe a slightly later model.

I think they are a good thing those models. The alloy base but then the catcher from the steel base which is easy to find/replace.

Easy $180 mowers second hand.

The bottom one is earlier. The ones of them ive seen have had the earlier 'twin grip saftey' catcher. Some even with a steel door.

I guess the easier way to tell is by the dates on the engine block,

OK there was just one other issue that I found on this mower. As it was running one day there was a horrible noise coming from under the mower.I stopped it and then tried to start it.It was very hard to pull the starter cord. Then after about the first 2 pulls. It was making a horrible noise coming from underneath it.After an examination it was found that the blade disc had come lose. After removing the blade disc.I found that it had a crack right around the hole, and I could clearly see it had been spinning around.I thought wow I'm glad it didn't start.Who knows what would have happen if it came off when running.

Quite common for them to crack in the middle like that, I often find it's from uneducated
Mechanics overtightening them at one stage or another.

Yes I thought it may have been a common problem seeing as the $15 mower did it as well.Except that blade disc wasn't damaged only the boss and washer were.
