Hi guys,
I am doing up a Greenfield 11hp 28' tractor. The brake lever for the park brake is missing. Would anyone who has a 11-28 be willing to take a photo and supply relevent dimensions of the brake lever so that I can make a replacement. I have searched around for a replacement lever but don't seem to be able to locate one. Thanks in advance, Keith

Would it be the same as the rear engined Greenfield???
Its on the RH side, locks into a disk on the back axle. Would not be hard to make a copy of.

Ive got a rear engined Green field here thats pretty trashed, not sure what im doing with it yet. I have an old Greenfeild 'tractor' here with a Horizontal shaft G65 Honda in it. Got the rear engined for the deck and any parts i might be able to swap onto the old tractor, well thats if i thought the rearengined was beyond fixing.

Mine is a Tractor 11 28 inch cut. When siting on the machine the hand brake is on the left rear guard. It is a straight rod which screws into the locking mechanism. It screws in and out to allow removal of the rear body panels to access the drive discs. Hopefully get a picture this arvy.

Hello Guys,

Rodeobob,
the rear engine setup is different time, but thanks for the pics and the post.

Hi Keith apologies for the late reply. I am having issues with my camera and uploading. I hope to have the pictures transfered tomorrow. I have already taken them but the computer is not playing atm.

The dimensions are, 8.0mm rod which is 230mm long in total which includes the round ball end. The diameter of the ball end is 28mm. The length of the thread is 15mm.

I have two pictures for you. One is of the rod and the other is of the handbrake slot on the left rear wheel gaurd.

Like I said I hope I sort it by tomorrow.

Cheers

Hi Al,
Thanks for the effort you went to with the dimensions and pics. The strange thing is that my brake setup is different to this, the guard does not have a cutout and the lever comes out from under the leading edge of the left guard. Don't know if it is a newer or older setup, probably newer as my rear wheels are secured to the hub with 3 bolts rather then a big nut on the shaft.
Maybe someone else will be able to assist. Thanks again for your trouble.

I looked at the real old Greenfeild i have here. It got something similar to what that rear engine has but on the same side as the one above.

Pics in this thread.

I would say looking at the mower pictured above that they all use the same principal.

Slotted disc on the axle. A spring loaded lever with a tab (vertical on rear engined, horizontal on old tractor) that goes in the slot. Other end of lever hooks up on something to hold it out of the slot when you want the brake off.

Hi Guys,

The problem with the hand brake lever has been resolved. I used the pics and info you guys gave me and manufactured one myself, works like it was made for the job. Attached pics of the finished lever. Thanks for the assistance, till next time, cheers Keith,[Linked Image]

I don't think you have that return spring right yet Keith - looks like it should attach to the lever further to the right. A minor point: I think the bit on the end that engages the disk-slot should be parallel to the slot. Otherwise, when it tries to roll forward it may tend to push the locking piece out of the disk slot.

Actully Grumpy the common theme i got was that the end that engages in the slot should only be about 1/3 the height of the strap so it locks in the slot. I would assume to avoid an off parallel jump out.

I say it looks good Keith. Good work. Photos would be a good resumee to send off to Greenfields if you were looking for a job. lol.
Thats why i like em, theres not a bit you couldnt make for one.

If you get a chance could you please put up some more pics of the drive setup etc and the machine in general. Interested to see about the locking diff if yours has it.

Hello Grumpy/Rodeobob,

Thanks for the encouragement amd sagely advice. I had to make 1 slight modification when I put everything back together, I had to take 3 inches of the end of the handle assy, where the heatshink was applied, so that the handbrake lever did not foul with the cutter engage lever, both levers work ok now, pall stays engaged in brake disc even when being pulled by my Pajero.

Rodeobob, the mower I have does not have a diff, it has a solid axle with the standard Greenfield disc drive system. If you need a pic of something specific let me know and I will get it for you.

Hello Bob/ Guys,

The first pic is not from my 11-28, somehow it got mixed in, still getting used to uploading pics.

Keith, if you can tell me what it is a picture of, I can add that information. If you prefer, I can delete the picture. It's a nice picture, if we knew what it is, but this is your thread, just tell me what you want to do.
