Hi to All, this topic thread was originally started by Rod Kennedy, under the thread " Victa 2 stroke pulley removal" and had gone off topic....In the interest of good forum housekeeping and to benefit all members, I have re-posted it here, in the correct forum area. wink


I have another problem...
After starting it runs and then it wants to stall, then it picks back up and keeps doing this. Sometimes it will run well for awhile then it will start wanting to stall again. It's blowing a little bit of white smoke too.
Any help would be appreciated.

If it is cycling in speed with a fairly steady cycle-time, that is called hunting. It is something caused by the effect of lean mixture on the governor. That is, the mixture is too lean, so it tends to starve out and slow down, which makes the governor open the throttle wide. The rapid opening of the throttle causes acceleration enrichment, so it speeds up, but once it gets back up to speed the throttle partly closes, the mixture goes back to being lean, and another cycle starts.

If it is hunting, the mixture is lean for a reason: a fuel flow restriction in the tank, fuel hose, or carburetor.

That's exactly what it's doing. There's no restriction in the tank or fuel hose. I have replaced the primer assembly and the pin for the float due to corrosion and old age. The pin is in the correct way.

Sounds as if something is wrong in the carburetor. One of the Victa 2 stroke guys might be able to point you to it, but they will need to know exactly which carburetor it is. Can you post a picture of the carburetor, or at least the engine?

Have you tried to remove your fuel tap from the tank and clean the small filter,my vc-160 was doing the same,even if i blowed back through the fuel line all seemed fine so i cleaned the fine mesh filter so that fuel would freely run out the fuel line to the carby...ken

also make sure the brass screw that holds the primer cap on is clean and clear as it is the main jet, also the black tube where it screws into could have a bit of muck in it.
