Hi All,
I have a 3216 with low compression. Bore is slick and piston is fine but no one here has been able to identify a part number for the ring. I've located a complete powerhead from a 38cc Mac Cat and was wondering how hard it would be to swap out. Is it even possible? I can get the whole PH for $30.00 USD and I doubt I'll get a ring for that even if I locate one.
Thanks,
Kevin

Hi Bruce,
Thanks for the quick reply. I'm sorry I didn't phrase my post better. When I wrote "here" I meant over here in the States:). Sorry, I'm a dumb Yank and it was late when I posted.

The only manuals anyone seems to have for this saw show the 32cc internals as being obsoleted and replaced by a 38cc powerhead. There are no numbers listed for 32cc pistons, rings, etc.
Thanks a million for that part number! I found one chap who has a stock of old parts but couldn't help without a number to look for.

Any thoughts on interchangeability of the 32cc with a Mac Cat 38cc? The powerhead appears to be the same with the exception of the plastic knob on the top of the cylinder head. For 30 bucks I'd have slightly more power and save the cost of seals and the time.
Thanks Again,
Kevin

Kevin,

We have the parts list in the parts list and manuals area (Chainsaws) for that saw. You can access it by clicking My Stuff and subscribe to it.

We are consistently updating all parts list as the request come through and once they are there they stay there for all members that subscribe.

As to jumping (interchange) from the 32cc to the 38cc I could not say it is possible because I have never done it myself. cheers2

Thanks Bruce, You've been a great help. I really appreciate the info. I wish I'd found this site earlier. I've done a lot of Googling over the past few weeks and this was the first time I got a hit for this forum. Also the first time I searched for "Mac Cat".

I think I'll go ahead and grab that 38cc and give it a try. If it won't work I can probably turn it on fleabay and get most or all of my money back. I will go ahead and see if I can find a ring for the 32cc and maybe get it running as well.
Thanks Again,
Kevin

Ha Ha, The world has really gotten small! He's the chap I was referring to:). He found the shaft seals but neither he nor I have been able to locate anything that gave the part number for the ring so he was unable to check and see if he had one. I guess he must be on this forum too? I found him on hobbytalk. He had suggested I try a couple of other sites where collectors hang out. Hadn't had any luck until now. Seems a lot of people kind of frown on these little Macs.
Cheers,
Kevin
