Hello Bruce

Can you still buy a carby gasket set, etc for this carby?

Thanks

Hi mvc,
I did one of these carbys the other day, although I acquired the parts thought a bulk buy from a deceased estate the diaphragms were dated 6/08.
I love these engines, and the mower itself is a perfect example of Australia ingenuity

Thanks Bruce, I will be working on the mower this weekend. It is 3 hours drive away, so i will bring the carby and tank home with me to make sure of the bits I need.

Good to see you can still get them.

This mower goes fine when I pour some fuel down the carby, so she will go again.

Yeah I know Bruce, I should have mentioned, this mower must have been sitting around for about 10 or more years before I got it, so as normal there is some unusual looking fuel (sludge) through out the carby and tank. I have cleaned the carby but the tank will need something done to it. HAHHAHA the joys of old mowers!!!

That sounds like my 5hp horizontal motors carby! the pick up tubes were deadset blocked with solid dried fuel, took forever to clean out.

Just looking at it I would estimate early-mid 70's I have a few slightly newer that were made in 78

Ok, I have managed to clean out the carby and tank on this old beast and I reckon it will be ok. I know it goes ok, (valve seats good, because it did start if I poured some fuel down the inlet).

There was some serious bad crap the came out of all the galleries etc in the carby! They all seem to blow out fine now. I will also check the dates etc on the cowl.

I should have this going over the xmas break! HAHAHAHA, trying to beat Joe and his old rover!! HAHAHAH

Hmmmm, do not think so Darryl. Just keep it in its original condition. Not a big Rover/Briggs fan. I am keen to get it going correctly though. I put the carby and the tank together today, and will hope to have some pics and video of this beast going early in Jan when I get back from Hols.

I have this exact mower out the bacl here now, it has one problem where the self propelled axles slip on the tyres, other than that I will ned to rebuild the carb one day and it will work fine.

Joe Carroll,

I still have some of the drive dogs on the shelf for the drive. Joe do you have the springs on each side to pull the drive dogs down on the wheels?

Those drive wheels are expensive and I am not sure that you can still get them any more. cheers2

Got this beast going over the Xmas break. Starts first pull, but will not keep running unless I give it a bit of choke manually, I will have to source the two governor springs and give it another go. I was testing it with the air cleaner off, but I would assume the air cleaner would not restrict the air flow that much.

I did not take any video, I was too lazy.

The Code is 68-05027 so that makes it a 1968 model.
