G'day, sorry if this has been covered, or I'm posting this in the wrong space.

I have an XC rover ranger and it's been very reliable since I bought it second hand, however my father borrowed it to do a local ladies yard, after I just put a new drive belt on, and it was rubbing fine after, but, he brought it home with issues, the clutch/brake pedal almost flies forward at the speed of sound, and it takes longer than used too to slow/stop the momentum of the mower, and secondly, changing gears has now become the major issue, having to ram it into gear, it no longer goes by one gear at a time, it even skips through to other gears at times, and have to work increasingly hard to get it into neutral now, which usually results in it staying in gear instead, am trying to nut it out, but am at a loss, I've replaced drive belt, adjusted the clutch/brake as the manual suggests, but there's no difference...anyone knowledgeable on what the issue is or could be, by any chance, I work on weed eaters and push mowers etc but never a ride on, so I'm stumped...thanks in advance. Hi Eamesy79,

It sounds like it has an incorrectly installed belt ,or wrong size ,or return spring problem but difficult to know when I'm not
looking at the parts.

I'd check you have the clutch pulley on the correct side of the V belt and everything looks correctly installed
as usually when the gearbox is difficult to change gears it means the clutch is not fully disengaging (the v belt it not slipping enough)
when the clutch is activated.

Cheers
Max.
