Oh a Tecumseh on an alloy deck! I recently bought a second Tecumseh steel deck Victa to get the carburettor to get my first one I found going. They're a pretty gutsy motor. Has your one had issues?
None. Nothing I couldn’t service myself easily enough.
Okidoke, usually when people say they have an acre or more on here, they are slashing thick 2ft high weeds every mow.
If you have been using that for 20 years, and its still in that condition, you obviously keep up on the mowing regularly - well done. I personally couldn't do it due to health issues, but it must keep you fit.
Any americans reading this will have a heart attack - most get ride ons for 1/4 acre blocks and push mowers dont come smaller than 21in over there

This pic is from a few years ago, but I don't usually let it grow as high as this, and it dies off over summer, so in reality, only mowing it a half dozen times a year.
Ok, so its pretty flat, the grass isn't out of control and if you spread the work out over 2 mowers, it wouldn't be too unpleasant.
Nothing the Victas can't handle between them. So you have probably picked the right mowers for your own use (based on weight, cutting width and power)
The snorkel will probably be of good use on the 2 stroke as it looks a bit dusty. How often do you have to clean and oil the filter in the tecumseh?
I don't know how I ended up with two mowers that day, and amazingly having my kids do it, but I usually do it on my own with the one mower. I break it up over two days It's not really dusty, as there really isn't grass during the summer period, so I only clean out the filter once a year, which is equivalent to around half a dozen mows only. The grass only hangs around for a few months.
I imagine a catcher would make it much harder though neater. I had a massive yard and in 13 years living there I only mowed it all at once once! It was just too much, even for someone who doesn't mind doing the job. All other times I split it over two or three days.
Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!
Just looking at that area I would be hunting down one of the early rear engine 26 inch cut rideons, very simple machines, easy to maintain and a bit of fun to use and you cut it in probably an hour and then just clean up around the edges with the push mower
NormK is right. If ever I saw an excuse to indulge in a ride on, this is it. Even I who loves any excuse to zip on the doo dah, common sense tells me a much larger machine is required here.

I use a catcher in one area immediately out the back door, but the rest of the yard I don't bother.

I honestly don't mind pushing the mower around, but I wouldn't knock a ride on back though if I was gifted one
If you do it in sections and don't catch for the majority, it looks ok to do with a regular mower. A side throw with a larger tank would be well worth getting though. A Victa 24 or 600 would be ideal.

Hey MF, I was just talking with the missus about how we came to have two mowers in that picture and my girls doing it and she reminded me of something; that was four days after I had my heart attack in 2014 and she got the girls to borrow the neighbour's mower and do it all before I came home and became to eager to do it myself lol.
Your darling daughters are can do people. Who needs sons?!! So sorry you had to go though that. I regularly fear having one myself whenever I feel pain in my arm, chest or jaw. A scary thing the thought of dropping dead any moment.

The guy over the road had a heart attack (then triple bypass) the same day as his mate 1 door down. 3 weeks later, I hear the mower, and he's out there mowing. His 2 sons wouldn't help him.
I offered to finish the lawn off, but he refused. Back to smoking a pack a day as well now

Thats also one good reason to have 4 stroke engines - people not used to mowing can just put straight fuel in them without harm (so long as it doesn't run out of oil).
I know guys who keep a file containing relavent garden info just in case. Eg - sprinkler controller basic settings, how to start mower, line trimmer, check oil, mix 2 stroke.

Thx guys. Although the cardiologist said it wasn't a good one (as heart attacks go) I only had a one stent put it. I wasn't much overweight and ate pretty well, but I had a lot of Poo going on in my life at the time and I guess a combination of things set it on motion. Going fine now though. I never at any point got concerned that I would pass away. Life is much ore relaxed now, although having three daughters can be a bit stressful at times lol.
Oh dear. I don't know how I did it, even though I thought I checked it over twice, but I ordered the wrong coil. I managed to find the correct one eventually, apparently the last one, at All Mower Spares, so hopefully will be able to try getting a spark within a couple of weeks. I might as well start working on the second project in the meantime lol. I guess there's no hurry really.
The pic is the original I took off. I couldn’t try the one that came because the spark lead was too short and it can’t be removed otherwise I would’ve tried it with my longer lead
