Hello ODK history lovers
Austral-Villiers Deluxe reel mowers first appeared in about 1955.
They were offered in 14”, 16”, 18” and 20” sizes and there was a
20” Heavy Duty Commercial Model.

These were manufactured by Condeco Pty Ltd of High Street,
Armadale, Victoria, with factory located at 9 Graham Road,
Highett, Victoria.

By the late 1950s, Condeco would introduce their first rotary –
the Adaptomatic – and their A-V reels would be rebranded as the
A-V Everyman reel mowers.

My best guess is that Condeco had some private contractual
arrangement
with England’s mower-maker Atco, and also engine-maker
Villiers, to use certain Atco designs and the Villiers name in the AUS market.
I do not believe there was any direct connection apart from that.

Nothing is certain about that.

Austral-Villiers were sold Australia-wide through State
Distributors and they clearly sold in volume.

TO BE CONTINUED …

PART TWO – Brochure
This early pocket-size, fold-out brochure is from my collection
and it is in good condition.

These small brochures are sometimes difficult to present, and this is one example.
Unfolded, there are six panels on one side, and a single-panel on the other.

Note the Atcoesque design [fuel tank, kick-starter], and that the first machines
used a Villiers Mk 2 Midget 2-stroke engine.

PART THEE – Operator Manual - Everyman
Here is a comprehensive Operator Manual for the Austral-Villiers
Everyman reel mowers.

This presents as one for the ‘G’ Series of the late 1950s;
when A-V were using the G series [70 cc] Villiers engines.

The manual is from my collection and it is in good condition.
As always, I make it available to members as a quality download.
