Hello
ODK history lovers
Austral-Villiers Deluxe reel mowers first appeared in about
1955.
They were offered in 14”, 16”, 18” and 20” sizes and there was a
20” Heavy Duty Commercial Model.
These were manufactured by
Condeco Pty Ltd of High Street,
Armadale, Victoria, with factory located at 9 Graham Road,
Highett, Victoria.

By the late 1950s, Condeco would introduce their first rotary –
the
Adaptomatic – and their A-V reels would be rebranded as the
A-V Everyman reel mowers.
My best guess is that Condeco had some
private contractual
arrangement with England’s mower-maker
Atco, and also engine-maker
Villiers, to use certain Atco designs and the Villiers name in the AUS market.
I do not believe there was any direct connection apart from that.
Nothing is certain about that.
Austral-Villiers were sold Australia-wide through State
Distributors and they clearly sold in volume.
