I got a jerrycan of fuel yesterday for my mowers and it is clear, no sign of colour in it. It is 91 unleaded and I just tried it in a whipper snipper that I had running a few weeks ago and it won't make the slightest attempt to fire It kicks no problems with starter fluid. The fuel was from a United servo, never had problems with fuel from there before.

G'day Norm and Tyler,

Don't tell me an independent is at it again with adulterated fuel. They did enormous damage to their reputation by substituting petrol with substances like ethanol and kerosene without telling the public and as a result I would only use the established chains. It took a long time for me to trust the independents again.
I hope this isn't 2.0. They cannot afford to do it a second time around.

Ahh, if only victa had kept producing the thumblatch catcher series, they would be in better shape today!

Hi Tyler and MF

Normally you would not notice the colour when you put it straight into your tank, it is just that I pour it from the jerry can into a plastic bottle and as soon as I started to pour it I noticed it was colourless and then I had to think hard if I might have got fuel from the wrong pump.
It doesn't smell like petrol, just some odd smell, and I didn't fill my car but I think I did earlier in the week and no probs so far
Then this afternoon I had this mower dropped off because it wouldn't start so I put some of this clear fuel in it, still no start, so I was blaming the fuel. No fuel coming out of the drain plug on the fuel bowl I took the bowl off, needle was dropping down but no fuel flowing. Blew into the tank to put some pressure in it and then fuel started flowing, put the bowl back on and still no start. Check the valve clearances, ok, pull the plug, good spark, put it back in still no start I'm using the drill by this stage, sick of pulling it. Change the plug with an old one and it fired up instantly, so the fuel must be alright.

^ Another mass produced Chinese bar blade wreck that probably receives umpteen names.
Good news that it fired up the mower. Strange that it has no tint. I hope it's not pure ethanol. That would fire for a while. Maybe they put E85 in by mistake but I can't see that happening as the plugs in the ground for the tankers are colour coded.

MF, you will laugh when you see the new Ozito petrol mower - 19 inch, bar blade, SP, electric start, mulch, side discharge

On the cowling it proudly states "air cooling technology" - I would never have guessed that haha

I gotten mixed fuels before myself. Since it is small amount you got lucky.

Dampen a cotton ball with some of it. I mean a very small sample and see if can ignite it with a match or lighter safely away from anything that be set on fire or exploded. It might be Kerosene or even just plain water. Slow burning it is Kero or it no ignition it is water.

I had station here that after a rain you get water in the fuel. I had to the fuel on a Chevy S10 three times because of it. One time I just brought 5 gallons and filled up my tiller. I went 10 feet when it died. I found water and check the container and I had over a gallon of water in it. Another time I brought diesel fuel for my mini tractor which nearly damaged the engine because it was Kerosene instead of diesel fuel. The engine sounded like it was going to blow up.

Is this new technology that I need to add to my engines so I can running beside the equipment with a blower to keep them cool. <LOL> Now what I am going to do for exercise other than getting mad and flying off the handle?

And there are those operators out that fall for this as something new.

Now the vortex would be something newly added if applied to the intake as it would mix the fuel and air better. But even that is a long stretch being as short as intake path is on most small engines. Nearly all the deck discharge systems use a vortex to vacuum up the clippings.

Just marketing words in my opinion.

Hi Guys,

I to have noticed that most unleaded fuels have had their pinkish colour removed a while back now. It's all predominantly clear now.

Cheers,
BB.

Hi all,
I hate unleaded, left some in a generator for 6 months and the carby is blocked in the main jet and blocked idle ports (that's it, now for the LPG conversion) I've had a few cars etc that I left super in them for 20 years and you just replace the fuel and they fire straight up no problems.

If I have to buy unleaded I prefer BP Ultimate (no ethanol)

One jerrycan here has 20 year old Super in it, put a flame to a small amount and it still burns, might see if some mowers
will run on it, 20 year old super must be better than new unleaded lol.

Diesel is good , LPG is good , I only use unleaded when i have to.

The Briggs Sprint 3.75Hp motors seem to run any unleaded fine ,I've seen a small amount of water in
the fuel tank many times with these motors and they still run ,must be because the plastic carby can't
corrode.

Cheers
Max.
