Hi all,

Recently inherited my grandfather's 20" SB from '76 and also purchased a 24" queen from '48.

Thanks to this forum the 20" is fairly well documented and I'm confident in restoring it to original spec (bar chrome frown ).

However, unfortunately the same cannot be said for the queen (the size comparison in the photos probably gives a hint to why). So I thought I'd ask if anyone has can point me in the right direction to manuals, technical documentation or operation instructions?

Furthermore, I'm curious about the possibility of the engine being original despite featuring a robin engine not a Villiers 25RG. I've noted in this post, the same engine has been used and further down CyberJack noted "Because of engine shortages post-war, SB fitted whatever they could get".

Cheers

and I'm pretty sure Robin certainly wasn't one of them, while BSA was. Must admit though that is a very early Robin indeed.

Nice to see what is one of the later made 20 inch Model 45 as the 20's didn't sell that well any more around that time and truthfully all cylinder cut mowers were in decline as the Rotaries were running the show by then. I will say that I would most certainly inspect those engine deck rails for fractures and if there are none then I'd buy a new style sloper engine to avoid those feeble rails from copping any more abuse as sadly those style Briggs engines caused nearly every 20 inch twin railer to fail. Regardless I love the look of the larger TR's but preserving them is a nightmare.

BTW Great to have you on board !

Cheers,
BB.
