You have asked a most intriguing question...
about the difference between the 5244 and the 52144 Rover mowers.
I do not have a copy of a 5244 parts list to answer this.
But, I know Rover typically added a '1' for significant changes to the specification.
Most likely, chassis or transmission. The last two numbers were Rover's identifiers of engine fitment.
Maybe a member might offer an answer.
