RE: Belt Tension Super 600 Mower
On the Victa Super 600 mower if you DON'T have the V belt very tight (so it twangs like a guitar string) then it will slip and cause problems.
The engine normally turns CW to start, but it can start CCW (in reverse) and pull back the starter cord & damage the pull starter pulley (cracking it), and worst pull your fingers/hand back into the engine. This is because it needs to have the spinning motion (centripetal force) of the blades/blade holder plate in the right direction (CW) to start.
