Mufflers for these are not easy to come by. I have however seen 1 or 2 at various swap meets over the last 3 years. Might be your best option.

What you've got there is the older style carby. Does it sit properly over the intake or is there an interface of sorts between them. I do have one but it belongs to an older style CG outboard that I want to restore one day.

This is a good sign. Most of the broken ones I've looked at have been broken outwards. This generally implies crank case vapours have entered the ignition area and ignited causing a small explosion. A Sign of a bad seal around the pushrod that drives the points.

As mentioned above swap meets are probably going to be your best bet for the outer muffler section. When you remove the ignition cover you'll see the points are quite unusual. They contact surfaces will need a good clean, other than that you should be right. [/quote]

Can't answer that unfortunately.

Thanks mate.
Not really. Best to get it apart and start inspecting the parts. I'm sure you'll find most if not all will be ok and that you have a restorable engine there. Take time to check ie to make sure there isn't any play from top to bottom when you rotate. There's been some talk about that on other forums about crank related issues problems.

Keep posting here so we can see your progress, and if you get stuck, let me know as I might be able to scrounge some bits for you. No promises though!

PS: Where are you located?

Regards,
