Geoff, for your info I own a Briggs & Stratton 12.5 HP ride-on. I have had identical trouble with the engine ie: dies for no reason and spark doesn't come back until engine cools down a bit, usually 20-30 mins. I had it checked by a mechanic the other day - my ignition coil was U/S - he has now installed an electric ignition module - cost is $200 for a B & S brand or $68 for a generic brand.
