Engine is fitted to a Murray ride on.
As of late the engine has been dying with no chance of starting until at least 30 min later. Now it won't start because there is no spark. I have adjusted the coil unit(?) but still nothing.
Has the coil unit (?)died and needs replacement?

Geoff, for your info I own a Briggs & Stratton 12.5 HP ride-on. I have had identical trouble with the engine ie: dies for no reason and spark doesn't come back until engine cools down a bit, usually 20-30 mins. I had it checked by a mechanic the other day - my ignition coil was U/S - he has now installed an electric ignition module - cost is $200 for a B & S brand or $68 for a generic brand. Hope that helps you. Regards. Mark

Geoffery,
Electronic Ignition module has failed.
As The Ignition Module is part of the coil unit and cant be separated from it, the whole coil unit has to be replaced. As Mark said will probably cost $200 for a genuine Briggs & Stratton Coil
Hope this is of assistance
Regards
Ben
